The Kano State Government has dethroned the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

This was announced by Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, the special adviser to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on media.

The Secretary to the Kano State Government, Usman Alhaji, also made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Mr Tanko-Yakasai said the Kano State Executive Council unanimously approved the dethronement of Mr Sanusi.

The Kano State Executive Council has approved the dethronement of the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi, at a special sitting held on Monday.

Before the dethronement, there was crisis in the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday over the issue.

As of the time of filing this report, security had been beefed up at the House of Assembly complex.

It was learnt that the fight broke out during a debate on the report of the Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Ant-Corruption Commission.
