EKSU will resume academic activities despite the industrial strike affecting most public universities in Nigeria.

A prominent member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had told FIJ that the union would not be suspending its strike action immediately, despite a court order that the strike be called off.

In August, ASUU declared an indefinite strike action following an initial six-month shutdown of public universities over unmet demands.

Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU President, said that the federal government had deceived the union for over five years.
